Food Pantries

Google the phrase “food pantry” and you’ll discover many hundreds of food banks, soup kitchens and non-profits in each state across the country whose missions are to fight hunger.  These entities rely heavily upon the contribution of both money and food products.

Part of our mission is to support these organizations through our own farm produce contributions during the season.  We do so in several ways, including the donation of weekly produce not picked up by subscribers as well as produce contributions of our own.

Partnership With The Ark of Chicago

One such organization is The ARK of Chicago. This social services agency provides families in need with medical, family and social services that such families could not provide themselves.  Primrose Valley Farm and The ARK of Chicago have come together in a relationship that has played an important role for these families. In recent years, the Farm has provided over five thousand pounds of bulk produce annually to The ARK’s Rhea Segal Food Pantry throughout the growing season for distribution each week. This food provides healthy organic vegetables for families for whom The ARK’s food pantry is made available.

“We are very excited about our connection with an organization such as Primrose Valley Farm. Assisting our clients with dignity is central to The ARK’s mission statement, and the ability to provide sustainable, organic vegetable produce helps us to support this aim,” said Marc Swatez, ARK Executive Director.
